To sell small items that can be carried into the store...

You can carry in small items Monday-Saturday between 10:00 and 4:30, and on Sunday betwee 12:00 and 4:30. A consignment desk associate will assist you by determining if your items are suitable for sale in our store. A sale price will then be established based on factors such as market demand, brand, quality, and condition. If you decide to sell your item at Clearing House, we will ask you to sign a consignment contract. Once the contract is signed, your items will be placed in our showroom within 24 hours.

To sell large items that require delivery...

In order to offer you the most convenient support we request that you send us an email notification prior to scheduling any deliveries. Please send an email to clearinghousejax@bellsouth.net with the following information:

  • Your name
  • A contact phone number
  • A digital photograph (as an email attachment)
  • The age and brand of the furniture are helpful

Clearing House only accepts quality furniture that is in good conditon. We do not accept upholstered furniture or rugs from homes with pets or smokers. We do not accept furniture that is broken or that has ripped or stained upholstery. We do not accept furniture made with particle board.

A member of our staff will then contact you to discuss details about selling your furniture. We will give you an estimated selling price. The final selling price will be determined when the furniture arrives at the store and is inspected. You will sign a consignment contract, which outlines the terms of consignment. If you are ready to sell immediately, we will schedule a date for you to have your items delivered to our store. Your furniture will be placed in our showroom the same day it arrives.

How the consignment process works...

  • Consignors must first sign a Consignment Contract, which defines the terms of consignment at Clearing House. Click here to read or print a Clearing House consignment contract.
  • The consignor agrees to leave furniture at the store for 90 days.
  • The item will be displayed in the showroom at all times
  • If the item doesn't’ sell for its original sales price within 30 days, the price will be marked down 15%
  • If the item has not been purchased after 60 days, the price will be reduced an additional 15% from the original price
  • Clearing House successfully sells over 98% of all items taken in. In the rare event that an item has not been sold by the end of the contract (90 days), the consignor will have 5 days to come pick it up.
  • The consignor will be paid 50% of whatever the item sells for
  • Clearing House will mail a check to the consignor by the 10th day of the month, for all sales made in previous month.

Will Clearing House purchase my furniture?

Yes, at the discretion of the store, Clearing House will buy your items on the spot. We will write a check immediately and you will not have worry about retrieving the item if we are unable to find a buyer for it.

Is it better to consign my furniture or sell it to the store?

The answer to this question is largely dependent on your individual preference. We offer both programs to meet the specific needs of our Consignors.

When you consign...
You will be paid 50% of whatever price your merchandise sells for. You will be mailed a check by the 10th of month for any of your items that sold in the previous month. If you furniture does not sell in 90 days, you may come pick it up. It could take up to 3 months for all your items to sell and for you to get all your money.

When you sell outright to the store...
Clearing House will write you a check on the spot for your furniture items. Unlike consignment, there is no risk that items do not sell. You get compensated for your items immediately and do not have to wait for Clearing House to mail a check.

How do I deliver my furniture to the store?

Once you have scheduled a delivery date, you have the following options:

  • You may bring the furniture in yourself . Pick-up trucks and SUV's are convenient means for transporting furniture.
  • You may rent a small truck from Penske, Budget, or U-Haul for as little a $19.95 a day
  • We will schedule pickup of your furniture with a reputable moving company with whom we have an established working relationship. For just $55, Clearing House will schedule a mover to pickup up to 4 large pieces of your furniture and deliver them to the store, for most locations in Duval County.
  • Upon arrival you will be given a report detailing the items delivered and placed in our store for consignment.
